So instead of doing that, they decided to switch lanes by taking the job to another level and focus on scamming their people in the same country.

Before bringing up the idea to write this article, I was once scammed by a credit card scammer in Nigeria. Here is how the story goes.
Back then when I was 14 years old I went to the bank to create an account. The bank was filled with customers, and also the cue was very long.
So I cannot get my account created that day so I had to come the next day. After coming back the next day I successfully created the account at 5:30 PM in the evening.
After getting home I received a call that there is an error in my account, that the date of birth doesn’t correspond with the one on my ID card that I must rectify, in order to continue using my account.
So the mistake I made is to ask the guy if I need to go to the bank to rectify it. Although the reason why I said that is because I’m already stressed out and I don’t want to visit the bank throughout that week.
Later he asked me to provide my details which was the front and back number of my credit card. To be honest, I gave him the details of the front and back of my credit card, also he asked for my PIN but I didn’t give him that one because I already knew that a bank account PIN is very important.
2 Minutes after giving him the details he called back and asked me why there isn’t funds in my account, by the way, this guy claimed to be one of the head workers at the bank. Lol.
After he asked me the question, that’s when I started getting suspicious. So I told him that why is he checking my account balance? He just hung up!
At that moment I knew he was a scammer in Nigeria. Immediately I went disable online banking for the account with the bank app so that he won’t be able to use my account for online transactions.
After that, I thought I was free. A few days later I decided to deposit 500 Naira into my account just to know what would happen.
After a successful deposit of 500 Naira into my new account, 5 minutes later I checked my account the money was gone like smoke!
I was so shocked, I didn’t know what to do at that moment. So I told my brother, he said we should go to the bank immediately.
By the way, the online application he used for scamming my money was Opay. The reason why he used opay is that after creating an account on Opay app, you can add your credit card details. Also, Opay would only ask you for a One-time password once, which I gave the Nigerian scammer.
After that you don’t need One time password, you are now free to use the credit card to do anything you like without your bank asking for a One-time password again. So that’s the method he used.
So I and my brother head to the bank and disabled the credit card and collected a new one. After that, he wasn’t able to access my account again.
So what I’m trying to say is that Nigerian scammers can now use this easy method to scam individuals. So please here are the things you need to know to be safe.
Don’t give anyone your credit card, because they don’t need your pin anymore to scam you.
Anyone that calls you that he is from the bank and asked for your details, don’t even prolong talk just hang up.
These are the little tip to keep your account safe from scammers in Nigeria. The people I pity the most about this issue are aged because they don’t know much about this and those scammers would eventually scam them.
How to catch a scammer in Nigeria (Facebook Method)
Some scammers are ready to collect your Facebook account by all means because they need an old Facebook account that they think Facebook won’t be able to disable because it’s old. Lol.
- Clicking Links on Facebook
This method is called phishing. If your friend on Facebook sends you a random link and asked you to click it please don’t. Although if you click it nothing would happen!
The reason why people often say that you shouldn’t click on such links is that you’ll be redirected to a website that looks exactly like Facebook.
And when you get to that website you’ll be asked to input your Facebook email and password to continue. This is how they’ll hack your account.
Because after inputting your Facebook email and password your account is gone.
These scammers would just change your Facebook password and start using your account or even sell it for 5k, lol.
So to avoid this don’t click on such links, that’s how to catch a scammer in Nigeria (Facebook).
How to catch a scammer in Nigeria (Facebook Method 2)
Your friend close to you may ask you that he forgot his/her Facebook account password, that he/she needs your help to recover the account. If you agree to help him recover the account he’ll ask you for the number or Gmail connected to your account.
If you ask him further questions about why he needs your phone number, he’ll tell you “that’s the process to recover it”, and because he is your friend you’ll trust him, and you don’t want to turn down a friend in need.
After giving your number or email, he’ll reset your password for you. This method is very simple because all he/she have to do is to input your email or phone number on Facebook, then click on forgot password.
After doing this Facebook would send you a code and the Facebook Scammer would ask for it. If you give the scammer that code, your account is gone…….
Because he’ll just change your password, remove your number/email, and then add his/her own.
So to avoid this from happening, don’t ever give anybody your phone number or email for any reason, even if this person is your closest friend…
How to catch a scammer in Nigeria (Dating Format)
This mostly happens to girls. If this happens to you, especially girls your private pics might get leaked on the internet or you might even be scammed the entire money in your bank account.
So here is how it goes. The scammer would randomly that he knows you from somewhere, or he’ll say a friend referred you to him.
If you allow him, he’ll get into you and you’ll be forced to like him. On and On, you will want to confirm if he is legit or not, so you’ll ask for a video call.
“Don’t think you are smart” by asking for a video call because you’ll eventually get what you asked for.
Video call isn’t a big deal for Nigerian scammers nowadays, these guys can get someone that looks exactly like the person you are chatting with, or even if the person is white they can easily get one in Lagos, that looks exactly like the guy in the pics.
So after doing a video call with the scammer you’ll now trust the scammer to the fullest. Sometimes the Nigerian scammer might lie about sending you a package from abroad and you need to receive it quickly, so therefore you are the one going to pay for the goods to be delivered where you want them.
If you send the money for delivery, they’ll say you need to pay some extra’s to deliver it faster. After that, they’ll still ask you to pay another money on and on, until you discover that they are a scam.
If you are smart enough to quickly know that they are a scam, and then request for refund. Immediately after asking them for a refund, both parties would block you, “the fake boyfriend and the delivery man”.
This tells you that they are all scammers and they can’t be trusted. So to avoid being scammed, stay away from such people even if the person did a video call that doesn’t verify that he is legit.
How do you report a scammer in Nigeria?
And now for the final question, how do I report a scammer in Nigeria. Reporting a scammer in Nigeria is a 1/100% chance that you are going to track the scammer in Nigeria because the government doesn’t care.
The only scammer you can catch in Nigeria is Bank scammers. To report a bank scammer or catch a scammer in Nigeria is easy because he/she that scammed you have a BVN number that would allow the bank to track them easily.
So if you want to report a scammer in Nigeria that defrauded your bank account, just go straight to the bank and lay complaints. Although to get this job done faster you’ll have to ‘drop something” I hope you understand what I meant!
