How To Apply

The DPSA has approved a new Z83 Application Form (available at any Public Service department) that will begin taking effect on 01 January 2024. Applicants are strongly encouraged to use the new form; otherwise, their applications may be disqualified.

In order to make the recruitment process more responsive to the public, as well as to prevent overcrowding and curb the costs incurred by applicants during the pandemic, these steps should include requiring certification upon submission.

Applicants are expected to submit applications with the accompanying notes that state (1) copies of their qualifications, (2) copies of their identity documents, (3) copies of their driver’s license (where applicable) and any other relevant documents. These copies do not have to be certified as part of the application. HR will only communicate with shortlisted candidates regarding certification requirements.

HR will communicate that only shortlisted candidates will need to submit certified documentation before or on the day of the interview. In the section titled “Additional Information” of the application for employment (Z83), it is stated that candidates who have been selected for an interview will be required to submit additional certified information that may be needed to make a final decision. In the certification of a document, the certifier confirms that it is a true copy of the original, but does not certify that it is an official copy of the original. As a result, certification cannot confirm whether an original document is authentic. Authenticity is checked when the document is certified.

Regulation 67 (9) outlines the steps to be taken by the executive authority to determine whether or not he or she is fully satisfied with the claims made, and this reads with Regulation 57 (c) which demands that Personal Suitability Checks be completed so as to verify the claims made and ensure that the candidate is fit and proper to be employed. All applications that do not comply with the above requirements will be disqualified. Your application will be considered unsuccessful if we have not gotten back to you within the next month.

SAQA must evaluate foreign and other qualifications. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure this is done. Candidates should submit proof of previous learning in order to be considered for credit for prior learning. We must confirm qualifications and obtain a security clearance before we can make an appointment.

Applications that are faxed or received late will not be accepted. It is expected that shortlisted candidates will undergo an extensive screening process. Please consider your application unsuccessful if we have not contacted you within three months.
